A FITTING TRIBUTE

A Cape Girardean who died in his country's service in Korea in 1950 will be honored at Ft. Leonard Wood when a new medical clinic is named in his honor.

Richard G. Wilson is the only Congressional Medal of Honor winner from Cape Girardeau, and it is fitting that his heroism is memorialized.

The special recognition is particularly meaningful to Wilson's 85-year-old mother, Alice Wilson, and his brother, Ron Wilson, both of whom are Cape Girardeau residents.

The deceased Wilson's heroism as he died trying to save a fellow soldier is a symbol of all the sacrifices made by those who have fallen in combat. It is a matter of pride that one of Cape Girardeau's own is fittingly honored.
