"The motivation behind the shooting is not clear at this time," said DPS spokesman Sgt. Jim McMillen.

The shooting is the second to occur in the area since Sunday. But McMillen said officers have no evidence to suggest the two cases are related.

DPS officials said the shooter or shooters haven't been identified. The case is still under investigation, officials said.

McMillen urged that anyone with information about the crime contact Crime Stoppers at 471-1500 or the Sikeston Department of Public Safety at 471-6200.
