TWO ACCIDENTS INJURE THREE

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- An East Prairie man was injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday at East Prairie in Mississippi County.

Ronald L. Carter, 59, was injured when he made a left turn in his pickup truck as another vehicle was passing him on Shelby Street. Carter's pickup was knocked into a ditch, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

Carter was taken by ambulance to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

A St. Louis couple was treated and released at St. Francis Medical Center after a one-car accident at 4:40 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 55, two miles south of Scott City. The accident injured Joseph Helle, 73, and Geraldine Helle, 70.

The Highway Patrol said the northbound vehicle, driven by Joseph Helle, ran off the roadway and into the median, and overturned.
