But earlier this afternoon, freezing rain caused schools to dismiss early in Perry and northern Cape Girardeau counties, and the leftovers of the storm are still causing accidents around the area.

Charges filed against Sikeston man accused in rape of 80-year-old

Authorities have filed charges against, and released the name of, a man accused of the November rape of an 80-year-old Cape Girardeau woman.

Police say the 17-year-old broke into the woman's home in late November and raped her, and he was arrested Sunday after he returned to the scene of the initial crime.

SEMO names new athletic director

We just got word via email news release that Southeast Missouri State University has selected a new athletic director, bringing a weeks-long search to an end.

John Shafer of Auburn, Ala., former director of athletics at Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Mississippi, will take the position replacing the fired Don Kaverman, who was let go after repeated infractions of NCAA rules.
