Southeast Missouri State University's capital campaign has raised $25.4 million toward its new goal of $35 million, school officials announced Frida at the annual President's Council dinnerby Michael Dambach, campaign co-chair.
Council membership is open to people and businesses whose gifts and pledges to the Southeast Foundation have surpassed the $10,000 and $25,000. This year a record 77 new members were added.
The council has more than 600 members.
Southeast president Dr. Ken Dobbins said the "pacesetting level of generosity" prompted the foundation's executive committee to recommend the new goal for the "public phase" of the campaign to raise the money by June 2002.
An initial goal of $25 million was set two years ago.
Gifts of $2.9 million have been committed for the River Campus project and $1.23 million has been pledged for the Seabaugh Polytechnic Building, top campaign priorities. The polytechnic building is under construction.
Over the next six months, the foundation hopes to raise an additional $8.1 million to help develop the River Campus arts school.
