CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Farmington High School successfully defended its championship title at the sixth annual Physics Olympics held at Southeast Missouri State University March 11.

The Physics Olympics is a series of competitive events for high school physics students based on the fundamental concepts of physics. Five-person teams from 11 area high schools were judged on their performance in 11 events.

The Farmington team took overall honors, repeating its team championship from the previous year.

Team members from Campbell High School, participating in their first Physics Olympics, finished second in the competition. The Cape Notre Dame High School team members finished third overall. Notre Dame claimed the team championship two years ago.

Judges for the various events were Physics Department faculty, former faculty members and students representing the Society of Physics Students at Southeast.
