The honorary memberships are awarded to people ineligible for standard membership, but who have earned national and international recognition in nursing or in a field contributing to nursing.

Crisp and her husband, Harry Crisp II, gave a major financial gift to Southeast in 1988 to create nursing offices and laboratories in the Rosemary Berkel Crisp Hall of Nursing.

She is an honorary inductee to the university's Nursing Honor Society and is a past chairperson of the Copper Dome Society.

A 1958 graduate of St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Evansville, Ind., Crisp has received the National League for Nursing's Anna M. Fillmore Award for outstanding contributions in developing and administering community health services.

A registered nurse, Crisp is co-chairperson of the Southern Illinois Women's Health Conference and has been a major contributor to civic and community service projects.
