CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Mitchel Gerber, assistant professor of political science at Southeast Missouri State University, served as chairperson of the National Social Science Association's Midwest meeting, held recently in St. Louis.
Peter J. Bergerson, chairperson and professor in the political science department at Southeast, was the keynote speaker for the conference. Bergerson's presentation covered ethics and public policy.
The National Social Science Association conference annually attracts educators from a variety of social science disciplines around the country.
As chairperson of the conference, Gerber was responsible for program planning and scheduling, marketing, on-site management of the meeting and overall coordination of the conference.
Gerber also presented a paper on the political philosophy of the 17th century English political theorist, Thomas Hobbes.
