A series of Practical Parenting Partnership meetings will be held for four consecutive Tuesdays beginning this week.
The meetings will be held from 7-8 p.m. in the community room of Commerce Bank, 160 S. Broadview. Those attending should enter through the west door and take the elevator to the basement.
Babysitting will be provided, organizers said
Carla Aufdenberg of the Practical Parenting Partnership program in the Cape Girardeau Public Schools said the meetings are for parents of children in kindergarten through third grade.
Tuesday's session will focus on "Motivating Your Child to Learn."
On March 2, Linda Robert, a Reading Recovery teacher at Clippard School, will speak on "Ways to Foster and Improve Reading Skills."
The topic on March 9 will be "Teachers and Parents Working Together: Helping Your Child Experience a Successful School Year." A panel of teachers will be on hand to answer parents' questions.
At the final meeting on March 16, Mary Goshe, a human developmental specialist with the Missouri Extension Service, will speak on "Why Won't He/She Listen: Communicating With Your Child."
