An aerospace education specialist with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will be the featured speaker at an aerospace education workshop on the Southeast Missouri State University campus July 16-24.
NASA specialist L.B. Marshall Jr. will give presentations during the first two days of the workshop. The seminar is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. in Room 406 of the Scully Building.
The seminar, worth two hours of undergraduate course credit, will provide educators with information about aerospace education and will offer to the public a non-technical approach to aviation and aerospace studies.
The workshop is particularly suited for elementary and secondary education majors and administrators, counselors and teachers at the elementary and secondary level.
Activities and topics to be covered include a field trip to Eaker Air Force Base in Blytheville, Ark., a plane ride, rocket orientation, meteorology, classroom telescopes, aviation history, flight principles, general aviation and a presentation by the Southeast Missouri Air Force ROTC.
Marshall has presented aerospace science lecture demonstrations in Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri and Tennessee. He also conducts programs for school assemblies, classrooms, aerospace education workshops for teachers, educational television, civic groups and other educational organizations.
