Former Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern will discuss the 1992 presidential election at a lecture Monday at Southeast Missouri State University.
The presentation will begin at 8 p.m. in Academic Auditorium.
A two-term member of the House of Representatives and a U.S. senator from South Dakota for 18 years, McGovern was the 1972 Democratic presidential nominee.
He subsequently made another unsuccessful run for the White House in 1984, but failed to secure his party's nomination.
McGovern served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee throughout the 1970s.
In 1982, he founded Americans for Common Sense, providing an alternative political voice on behalf of minorities, the poor and other Americans.
Advance tickets are available at the University Center information desk. Ticket prices in advance or at the door are $1 with Southeast student I.D. and $2 for the general public.
The lecture is sponsored by the university's Student Activities Council.
