A public lecture and slide presentation on Mount Washington Glass will be held Sunday at Southeast Missouri State University. A public lecture and slide presentation on Mount Washington Glass will be held Sunday at Southeast Missouri State University.

The presentation is in conjunction with the University Museum exhibition, "British and American Art Glass 1850-1910."

Presenting the slide lecture will be exhibit curator and antique glass collector Phillip Egelston of Jonesboro, Ill., who loaned his extensive glass collection to the museum for the exhibit. The one-hour presentation will be held close to the museum exhibit so that visitors may discuss the displayed glass with Egelston.

Egelston is a member of the Victorian Society of America and the Early American Glass Club Ltd., and is a charter member of the Mount Washington Art Glass Society Inc.

The exhibition of 107 pieces of antique glass opened at the University Museum Dec. 5 and will remain on display through Jan. 28. Featured types of glass include Mount Washington satin, iridescent, mother of pearl and enameled pieces. Also featured are sculptured vases, a lamp, brides bowls and sugar shakers in an array of colors and sizes.

The exhibit is free to the public. Group tours may be arranged by calling (314) 651-2260. The University Museum is located in Memorial Hall. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
