Scott Monteith, a junior at Southeast Missouri State University, has received the President's Purchase Prize for his entry, "Macho Dream Diptych," in the Juried Student Art Exhibit.
The art award is presented to a student work purchased by Southeast President Kala Stroup and the University Museum for permanent placement on campus. Stroup selected the ink wash drawings from works entered in this year's juried exhibit.
For the piece, Monteith also received the "Best in Show Merit Award," one of seven cash awards presented to student artists for their entries.
"Scott's pieces are very strong compositions and show a lot of creativity, energy and imagination," said Pat Reagan-Woodard, University Museum director.
Monteith, a Jackson High School graduate, is a junior at Southeast majoring in art.
