A Cape Girardeau insurance agent who failed twice to get his property zoned for commercial use wants it zoned for multiple family residential use.
Bo Shantz originally intended to use his two acres on the northeast corner of Lexington Avenue and Perryville Road for an insurance agency. After twice getting approval from the planning and zoning commission, the plan was rejected by city council members.
Shantz, a State Farm agent, told commissioners at Wednesday's meeting he has a potential buyer who would like to put luxury townhomes on the property. He declined to name the buyer and said he didn't have details on how many townhomes.
Only one neighbor, Meyer Drive resident John Essner, spoke about the project. He said he wasn't clear how he felt about it due to a lack of information.
Commissioners voted to recommend the rezoning.
