The president of the Southeast Missouri Home Builders Association can't think of anyone who wouldn't want to attend this weekend's annual Home and Garden Show.

The offerings are diverse. Chefs will prepare some of their favorite recipes for onlookers. A master gardener will explain how to design the ideal front lawn. And craftsmen will explain how to improve a home inside and out.

"We try to put as much diversity into the show as we can," said Monica Fluegge, association president.

It's the 21st year for the show, which organizers expect will attract more than 10,000 visitors to the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Fluegge said the association is committed to putting on the show every year, although hundreds of volunteer hours are involved.

"We as an association are trying to promote the home-building trade," she said. "We have a good membership base who support and believe in this, and they are willing to put in the extra work to put the show together."
