RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. -- Marvin Enderle, 48, publisher of the Monroe (N.C.) Enquirer-Journal for the past three years, has been appointed publisher of The Courier in Russellville, Ark., and the Dardanelle (Ark.) Post-Dispatch. The newspapers are owned by Paxton Media Group, which is headquartered in Paducah, Ky.
Enderle is the son of Betty Enderle of Kelso and the late Harry Enderle. His newspaper experience started in the circulation department of the Southeast Missourian, where his father was a salesman.
His first full-time newspaper job started in 1979. He worked for three Gannett newspapers -- first as district circulation manager for the Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader. Later, he served two years as circulation manager for the Coffeyville (Kan.) Journal and three years as circulation manager, then controller of the Saratoga Springs (N.Y.) Saratogian.
In 1987, he was appointed general manager of the Norwich (N.Y.) Evening Sun, and two years later he became general manager of the Rockingham (N.C.) Daily Journal. Both publications were owned by Park Newspapers, Inc.
He was named publisher at Monroe in August 1997.
Enderle attended parochial schools at Kelso and Cape Girardeau, then earned a bachelor's degree in political science at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. He then had four years' active duty in the U.S. Air Force, most of which was spent in an accounting assignment at Myrtle Beach, S.C.
He and his wife, Jeanie, who have been married 29 years, have a son, Brian, 21, and a daughter, Cara, 17.
