JACKSON -- A deer crashed through a Jackson store and hit a pickup truck before fleeing Saturday afternoon, police said.
Sgt. Howard Hammers of the Jackson Police Department said a person using a cellular phone called police at 3:59 p.m. to report that a deer had just smashed through the glass of the front door of Val's Upholstery, 121 W. Main St. The store was closed at the time.
The deer fled after crashing through a rear door, situated about 20 feet off the ground. The animal then collided with a soundbound pickup truck on Highway 61 near Immaculate Conception School, before fleeing. The deer struck the passenger side of the 1984 Chevrolet pickup.
Hammers said police were unable to locate the deer.
The southbound vehicle was driven by David Clem of Jackson. Neither Clem nor a passenger, Thelma Kimbel of Jackson, were injured.
