Welcome and good luck, Southeast Missouri State students

It was hard not to notice the influx of people bustling around town over the weekend, mainly near the Southeast Missouri State University campus.

Students moving in -- whether it be for the first time or a return trip to Cape Girardeau -- always makes for an exciting time.

The excitement doesn't just span the campus, though. It spreads throughout the city.

There's a different energy when Southeast returns to session, and more people just about everywhere you turn.

Today marks another occasion for these students and the Southeast faculty and staff -- the first day of classes.

To each of you, welcome and good luck!

College, and the workload it brings, may seem daunting at times, but it is worth it.

The education you will receive, the friends that you make, and the things that you learn about yourself along the way make the late nights and coffee-and-junk-food fueled study sessions worth it.

Embrace every challenge and relish every opportunity you encounter.

We look forward to seeing what you're capable of accomplishing and the impact you can have on this community and beyond.
