Common sense takes vacation

Common sense has taken a vacation in Washington, D.C. Common sense is defined as good sense and sound judgment in practical matters. However, in America 2.0, common sense has been shelved and replaced by something called political correctness.

Political correctness is the avoidance, often considered as taken to extremes, of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against. Now pardon my naivety, but seems to me that today's effort to live up to political correctness completely ignores good old common sense.

Two examples of political correctness can be found in the transgenderism of America. Forgoing the religious argument against this, this little old man can't see the wisdom in telling our lady folk that a man can now come into the bathroom with them so that they can be comfortable and vise versa with us gentlemen. You see, political correctness requires the 99 percent to give up their comfort zone for the 1 percent.

It is suggested public schools accept similar policies. It really doesn't seem too smart to let teenage boys and girls in the same shower room together. Now our Washingtonian Wise Men have opened the same Pandora's box to our military, and offer to pay for their gender reassignment surgery.

I'm just an ignorant country boy, but seems to me common sense needs to shorten its vacation and political correctness should pack its bags.
