Letter to the Editor

Stop peripheral zoning

We wish to send a clear message that we are against peripheral zoning. Here are four reasons why:1. It isn't fair for those in the county.

2. It could easily limit our ability to make a living as we do now.

3. It will reduce the value of our property.

4. People moving to the county subdivisions to get away from city regulations are the strongest proponents.

We are passionately against this proposal, and encourage the Cape Girardeau County Commission to seriously weigh the merits of this request. They have the only and final vote. They are men of wisdom who are reasonable and fair, and they want to hear from you.

If you cherish your current lifestyle, please do not sit idly by. We are requesting three things.

1. Call your commissioners: Jay Purcell, Gerald Jones and Paul Koeper.

2. An open meeting date and time will be announced soon. Call us to participate in defeating planning and zoning. You may also contact us for a copy of the peripheral zoning ordinance.

3. Attend the scheduled open discussion with the county commissioners at the Osage Community Centre November 30, at 7 p.m.
