LETTERS: ELECTION DAY SHOULD BE VOTING HOLIDAY

To the editor:

In my opinion, there should be a holiday for Election Day, especially for the presidential election. There were such long lines, and voters had to go to work. Some kept looking at their watches and then gave up and left for work. They didn't get to vote.

We have holidays for everything else. Why not for a presidential election? It is more important than some of the other holidays on the calendar.

Also, not one state should have the authority to stop the hand recounting of votes. All votes should be counted, no matter what state it is.
