Cape lucky to be all-American city

To the editor:

What is happening to my beloved Cape Girardeau? I was born in Sikeston and grew up in Cape until I moved to California in 1965. Some of my family still lives there. I come home every year I can. I love Cape and all that is Cape. I've never gotten it out of my heart.

I am saddened by the comments I am reading in the paper regarding rudeness in the stores. I have never encountered this in Cape. In fact, my face will hurt from all the smiles I find myself returning. People in Cape are the friendliest and kindest I have ever known. The comments in the paper would have me believe all that has somehow changed. I do not believe it.

You who live in Cape are fortunate to live in such an all-American city. I can tell you from 39 years of living in California that you have no idea about rudeness.

Count your blessings, Cape Girardeau residents, and stay out of California. Your skins are obviously too thin.
