Letter to the Editor

I've had enough of Republicans

To the editor:

For years, we who dissent from the views of the Republican Party have been told we are ignorant, against the troops, our religious beliefs are wrong and President Bush is a messenger from God. Torture, telling lies and fear-and-smear are virtues if the results favor the GOP. These purveyors of moral values have chosen the protection of the party over the protection of children from sexual predators.

The Republican creed: I've got mine, I deserve it and good luck to you. The pro-life mantra belongs only to the unborn. Republicans have repeatedly voted against programs to help the poor and middle class. They have the audacity to tell people that abstinence is the answer to all sexual issues.

There are 13 million American children living in families that are food insecure, and 37 million poor people are inadequately educated to obtain better-paying employment. One American child in four lives in poverty. When will health care be the real issue over gay marriage and abortion?

Our president has lied us into an illegal war that may continue, as he says, after he leaves office. Thousands of humans have died for what? Our brave and honorable troops are being misused and let down.

Maybe if you cannot find a job, you could join the military and provide more fodder for these greedy chicken hawks.

I've had enough. Vote them out on Nov. 7.

JANE RYAN, Campbell, Mo.
