KELSO, Mo. -- Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Staebel of Kelso recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They attended Mass at St. Augustine Catholic Church, followed by a dinner for family and friends at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jim Gosche of Cape Girardeau.
Hosts were their children and spouses, Mary and Jim Gosche; Ray and Diane Staebel and Judy Flournoy of Houston, Texas, and Kathleen and Gary West of Cuba, Mo.
Staebel and Rita Grojean were married Aug. 8, 1944, in New Hamburg, Mo.
Staebel worked 23 years as shipping supervisor at Ely Walker in Scott City, and eight years at Cauble and Field. Mrs. Staebel was a seamstress and had been a floor supervisor at Ely Walker and later worked at Florsheim Shoe Co. Both were 4-H leaders and active in the Kelso community.
The couple has seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
