Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schabbing of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise dinner Jan. 29, 2010, at Texas Roadhouse.
Hosts were children and grandchildren.
The couple also celebrated the event early by taking a cruise to Alaska in July 2009.
Schabbing and Patricia Scherer were married Jan. 30, 1960, at St. Mary's Cathedral by Bishop-elect Marion Forest, and the Revs. Duffner and Doniphan.
Their attendants were Darlene Scherer Summers, Celestine Littleton Kohlfeld, Cordelia Schrock Peters, Carletta Schrock, Mary Ellen Schonhoff McKay, Dr. William Schabbing, Dean Littleton, Marvin and Walter Margrabe.
The couple has five sons, David (Annette) of Cape Girardeau, Mike (Sarah) of Renton, Wash., Steve (Michele) of Gordonville, Chris of Jackson, and Matt (Angie) of Shawneetown.
They have 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Erica, Veronica and Victoria of Cape Girardeau, Alex, Sabrina and Hannah of Renton, Collin and Tanner of Gordonville, and Kelsey of Jackson.
Schabbing and son David own and operate Ramsey Creek Farm in Cape Girardeau. Mrs. Schabbing is a private piano teacher.
