Jackson City Park entrance to close as U.S. 61 project continues
Work is underway on U.S. 61 in Jackson, from Parkview Street to North Hope Street. According to a Missouri Department of Transportation news release, the project includes adding turn lanes at Mary Street and the Jackson City Park entrance, making pavement improvements and replacing the bridge over Hubble Creek at Jackson City Park. Utility upgrades are occurring simultaneously. Beginning Monday, Aug. 12, the Jackson City Park entrance will be closed, allowing for the removal of the existing pavement and re-grading of the roadway to match the elevation of the new bridge. Once completed, the park entrance will be relocated to the south. During the entrance closure, motorists should use the marked detour on Highway 72, Farmington Road and Route D. According to the release, the relocated entrance is expected to reopen Tuesday, Oct. 1, while the U.S. 61 project should be completed in early November.
