Mr. and Mrs. Robert Parkinson of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise luncheon at Dexter Bar-B-Que Feb. 14, 2009. Hosts were their children.

Parkinson and Ann Henry were married Feb. 14, 1959, at East Genesee Presbyterian Church in Syracuse, N.Y., by the Rev. Dugald Chaffee.

Their attendants were Frances Jeffers; Carol Clarke, cousin of the bride; Marjorie Bisbing; David Parkinson, brother of the groom; James Henry III, brother of the bride; Gregory Clarke; James Yarrington; and Pedro Rivera.

The couple has three children, Laurie (Alan) Longwell of Union, Mo., Doug (Becky) Parkinson of Cape Girardeau, and Donna Parkinson of Poplar Bluff, Mo. They have three grandchildren, Greg (Brittany) Parkinson of Jackson, Cara Parkinson of Cape Girardeau, and Curt Longwell of Union.
