Two of the finalists for president at Southeast Missouri State University also are among finalists for the presidency at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville; the two, Dr J. Wade Gilley and Dr. Kala M. Stroup, are among three presidential finalists at Northeast Missouri State and among four finalists at Southeast.
The city staff is proposing that municipal airport property be designated as a special zone and that new buildings in the zone be limited to two stories or 30 feet in height.
The Cape Girardeau City Council voted three to two yesterday in favor of annexation of new territory to the north, west and south; under the plan, the new northern limits would extend from the Mississippi River to Interstate 55 near Wedekind Park, adding about a mile on the north; the line would then follow the east right of way on Interstate 55 southeastward to the highway's intersection with the Frisco Railroad tracks; the tracks would become the south city limits as far eastward as the present line.
