Almost a year to the day of a similar power outage, the lights go out in the morning for parts of the Cape Girardeau area; Union Electric officials say the cause of the 37-minute outage is the same as that on April 12, 1989: a "faulty" fault detector in the UE switching station in South Cape Girardeau.

Federal Court Judge George H. Moore grants a motion presented by Sen. R.L. Dearmont, counsel for Guy H. Thompson, trustee for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, which gives authority for the trustee to sink four oil wells on right of way of the Mo-Pac line in Marion County, Illinois.
The Rev. B.V. Wulff and four members of Zion Methodist Church, west of Gordonville, appear in county court to request aid in improving a roadway to the church; the court promises to loan some of the county's road machinery for that purpose.
S.D. Hensley, the well-known and prosperous farmer living near Jackson, and two sons, Joe and Robb, bring over several fine beeves, which they sell to Frank Lawler; Hensley is a scientific farmer, feeding his cattle scientifically and getting good results.
C.E. Tinsley, formerly connected with the Chero-Cola Bottling Works in Cape Girardeau, has established an auto service between Cape Girardeau and Allenville and intermediate points.
