Fairground Park is being put into shape for the summer season under the direction of commissioner Raymond E. Beckman, with Harry C. Rabe actively in charge of the work; the Eddie Schindler Memorial has been restored, and a small fountain is in operation; the memorial, which was placed several years ago, had been damaged by vandals.
Teachers for the next school year in the public schools were chosen by the Cape Girardeau Board of Education last night; all but seven positions were filled, and teachers for these places will be recommended by superintendent J.N. Crocker at a later date.
The Henry J. Martens property at the corner of Broadway and Sprigg Street will be sold by the sheriff at the courthouse in Jackson on May 4, to satisfy a mortgage held by the County Court for the school fund.
