Officials have confirmed that the body found in the Mississippi River Friday near Tiptonville, Tennessee, is that of Jackie Lynn Lichte, who disappeared from Cape Girardeau Jan. 11, 1988; the death of the Southeast Missouri State University sophomore has been ruled an accidental drowning.
Members of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Air Transportation Committee will join the city's efforts to bring additional airline service to the municipal airport; currently, Trans World Express is the only commercial carrier serving the local port.

The Roxy Theater on Independence Street is now open following complete redecoration and refurnishing by Hugh Mitchell, who purchased the show house from Duke Allan; improvements to the building included the construction of an entire new front, redecorating the interior, elevating of the floors, and installing a new interior light arrangement; entirely new sound and projection has been added, along with a new sound screen; leather upholstered chairs have been placed; seating capacity is about 300.
