The federal post office department and the Federal Works Agency in Washington have worked out details of the site trade looking to building the new $430,000 federal building in Courthouse Park, including preparation of deeds on the site and on the old post office building, according to a message to Mayor Hinkle Statler from U.S. Sen. Harry S. Truman; the agreement was merely a formality, the issue having been decided months ago.
Jess Sheppard, 52, of Illmo sustained severe bruises yesterday when he fell off a scaffold at the plant of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co., under construction on West Broadway; Sheppard, a plasterer, was working on the interior of the building when he fell from the scaffold to the floor, a drop of between 6 and 8 feet.
Thomas J. Juden's nomination for postmaster of Cape Girardeau has been sent to the Senate by President Woodrow Wilson for confirmation; it will doubtless be approved without a question, because it has been known that Sens. William J. Stone and James A. Reed favor Juden for the post.
Constable D.M. Scivally sells at public auction the furniture and all other furnishings of the Prescott Hotel to satisfy debts against the place; the hotel had recently been closed by a man named Mitchell, who took it over from A.S. Ritchey, formerly of Chaffee, Missouri; Rudy Huhn had a claim of $130 against the hotel for rent.
