Despite a citizens' petition drive seeking a referendum on the multipurpose building operating agreement between the city and Southeast Missouri State University, the Cape Girardeau City Council says it will proceed with the sale of the $5 million in bonds to finance the city's share of the $13 million project.

Mrs. John Foley has purchased the property of Mrs. Bowman on South Spanish Street; the price is said to have been $2,000; the lot fronts 50 feet and is 180 feet deep; Bowman went to Caruthersville, Mo., to live with her sons there.
