Eisleben Lutheran Church, which began serving Lutherans in the Scott City area in 1848, marks another milestone in the history of the church; a rededication service is held in the afternoon to commemorate the completion of the redecoration and renovation of the church interior.
Cape Girardeau County authorities are investigating the firing of shots at three vehicles after a disagreement at a drinking party attended by a number of youths along a county road off Highway 72 between Interstate 55 and Dutchtown; four to six juvenile boys are involved in the incident.
The Kansas City engineering firm of Larkin and Associates, which specializes in the construction of swimming pools, has been retained by the Cape Girardeau City Council to design and supervise construction of a municipal pool to be built in Capaha Park from proceeds of a $149,000 bond issue voted on in August.
KENNETT, Mo. -- County agent reports show that nearly one-fourth of the expected 1956 Missouri cotton crop had been picked by Sept. 15; mechanical pickers and ideal weather produced the fastest cotton harvest in the history of this area.

By having the deplorable conditions of last winter brought out again by the rains during the past two days, people are beginning early to complain about the streets around the public schools; several parents of children at Jefferson School say if something isn't done to make the crossings in that neighborhood passable, they will keep their children home.
Former chief Henry A. Astholz and Capt. George W. Green of the original Cape Girardeau volunteer fire department have given notice of a meeting to be held Saturday of the members of that organization; they are planning a reunion of the Good Intent Fire Company, established in 1880, which will be held during Centennial week.
