Members of the Cape Girardeau County Commission told public defender Gary Robbins yesterday they wouldn't make any decision on his request for expanded office space in the county courthouse until all offices agree on a complete plan; Robbins would like to move his office from the top floor of the courthouse to the main level, to space previously housing the county commission, clerk, recorder of deeds and recorder's vault.

According to Community Counseling Center executive director Roger Henry, the center is making an effort to set up an inpatient unit at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville, Mo.

Deer-hunting tags for the coming season are on sale at six Cape Girardeau County locations; in addition to the county clerk's office at Jackson, tags may be obtained at the Country Store, Southern Oil Co., Summers Sporting Goods and Beards Sport Shop in Cape Girardeau, and the Owl Shanty in Fruitland.

Linus W. Bartels, 101 S. Louisiana Ave., is the newly elected governor of the Missouri-Arkansas District of Kiwanis International.

The time limit for the factory fund expires tonight, and the fund lacks about $17,500 of reaching the goal set to assure the establishment of a Superior Electric Products Corp. plant here.

John Sciortino, owner, plans to remodel his business building at 616 Good Hope St., which was damaged by fire two months ago; the structure will be left its present size, but new wiring and plumbing will be installed by contractor Sam Smith.

The gates to the big Cape Girardeau fair are thrown open in the morning and, despite threatening weather in which rain seems certain to pour down at any time, there are many visitors to the fairgrounds; because of the occasional showers during the day, all horse races scheduled for this afternoon are postponed until tomorrow, when a big double program will be staged.

Leland Albert is here from Iowa, bringing with him two horses belonging to an Iowa man; he expects to pull down some of the purses at the races at the fair.
