The congregation of the Good Life Church, Route K and Highway 25, celebrates the first anniversary of the church; following the morning worship service, a dinner is served on the church grounds.
The Lutheran Chapel of Hope at Southeast Missouri State University observes the 15th anniversary of the chapel; the Rev. Robert Lange, first pastor of the chapel and now campus pastor at Illinois State University at Normal, is the guest preacher at the morning service.
Thousands of children -- and many parents -- crowd Arena Park to participate in Cape Girardeau and County School Day at the SEMO District Fair; many grade and high school pupils take advantage of special prices prevailing on rides and attractions of the Blue Grass Shows.

John O'Donoghue, for several years director of the New Broadway Theater orchestra, and Josephus Spada of St. Louis arrive at noon to assist Don Foster in his symphony orchestra for the "Arabian Nights" performance; O'Donoghue will lead the violin section and Spada will play the oboe, an essential instrument for Arabian music; the spectacle's first showing will be tomorrow evening.
In order to accommodate the black people of Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri who wish to attend, a special section in Houck Field Stadium will be set aside for them at the Wednesday night performance of "Arabian Nights."
William Cox of Bunker Hill, Texas, who has been visiting friends and relatives here, leaves for his home accompanied by his daughter, Neona; she has just finished a course of telegraphy in a St. Louis school; Cox has bought a grocery store in St. Louis and will move there shortly.
Dennis Scivally is improving the Bend Road by building concrete culverts; by the end of the week, he will have them all done, then residents will have about five miles of good roads.
