Southeast Missouri State University students brave a long line and rainy weather in the morning to obtain tickets for President Ronald Reagan's address Wednesday at the Show Me Center; all 1,700 tickets available for students are distributed within two hours at the University Center.
The 133rd annual SEMO District Fair opens after a weekend of rain; a large crowd steps through a muddy midway to see the sights, an estimated 17,000 being in attendance.

The steamer Rees Lee finally arrives in the morning; the boat had run aground near Kennet's Castle and had to wait until another Lee boat came along to take off sufficient freight to float the Rees; the Rees left St. Louis on Tuesday afternoon and didn't get off the mud until late Thursday evening.
Only about a half dozen members of the Commercial Club turn out to hear School superintendent J.N. Crocker discuss the conditions of the public schools; he advocates construction of a big central school building costing $100,000, a school building for the north end and an addition to Lincoln School, costing together another $25,000.
