At a news conference yesterday, Gene Huckstep, chairman of the board of Saint Francis Medical Center, said there is no animosity between Cape Girardeau's two hospitals, and he expressed hope that talks leading to improved cooperation could continue.

Construction work is nearly complete on the 1.1-mile widening project on Highway 61 in Jackson; traffic-activated signals are scheduled to be installed at the Shawnee Street intersection sometime within the next week.

The Rev. George W. Westlake Jr., is the new pastor of First Assembly of God; he, his wife and two children have moved here from Kennett, Missouri; he also held pastorates in Farmington and Fristoe, Missouri, and Bad Axe, Michigan.

The Whole Truth Church of Jesus Christ is planning an open-air revival beginning Sept. 1; it will be held at the Blue Hole Garden, 2300 S. Sprigg St., for 15 nights; speakers will be the Rev. Ben E. Cannon and Irvan Ivory.

Negotiations are completed whereby H.H. Humbert of Terre Haute, Indiana, signed a 15-year lease on the Hotel Idan-Ha building, purchased the furnishings of the hotel, and will formally take charge of the operation Monday; Bruce Decker will retain ownership of the building; the coffee shop and Rainbow Room will be leased to Eldon Bone, a bookkeeper at the hotel.

Louis F. Wagner, 60, cashier of the Jackson Exchange Bank and a civic and religious leader in Jackson for many years, dies unexpectedly at his home.

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Before a crowd of nearly 1,000 people, the Chaffee baseball club downs the Cape Girardeau Capahas in both games of a doubleheader here, 12-1 and 6-2; it is simply a case of the Capahas being completely out of form, while the Chaffee athletes play perfect games.

A constant flow of people visits Camp Nussbaum, the Boy Scout Camp on Whitewater River in Burfordville; activities of the day include Sunday School, taught to Judge Frank Kelly, and talks by Dr. Ivan L. Holt, Teachers College President W.S. Dearmont, School Superintendent J.N. Crocker and W.H. Stubblefield; the last day of the rainy encampment is a busy one.
