Blodgett - Mrs. Mary Helen Beggs has been notified by Department of Defense that her husband, Pvt. Gerald L. Beggs, is one of seven men missing since flash flood in Korea on Aug. 18 swept them away; it was on that day that typhoon moved across lower part of peninsula, accompanied by torrential rains; none of bodies has been recovered.

Bloomington, Ill. - Courageous Cape Girardeau American Legion Junior baseball team rallied after spotting Cincinnati six runs in first six innings last night to snatch 9-8 decision over boys from Rhineland; they continued to lead in second game up until final inning, when Bently Post nine counted two runs to win third and deciding game of double-elimination Sectional Tournament, 4-3, and earn trip to Denver, Colo., for "Little World Series."

75 years ago: Aug. 29, 1927

Anniversary of founding of Cape Girardeau County Historical Society is observed at first annual meeting, held at Cape Girardeau Public Library; principal address is delivered by Dr. John W. Oliver, head of department of history at University of Pittsburgh; Oliver is nephew of R.B. Oliver Sr.

Poplar Bluff - Voters of Butler County will go to polls tomorrow to ballot on proposed issue of $265,000 in bonds to build new county courthouse; proposed new building would replace one wrecked by tornado on May 9; it would be constructed on site of old one, in center of square; ruins of old building are still there.
