A familiar face at Southeast Missouri State University will be playing a new role beginning this fall; Dennis C. Seyer, an assistant professor of speech communications and theater, has been named director of Theatre and Business Management after the retirement of Larry Grisvard.

Ceremonies are held at Academic Hall for the convening of the Southeast Missouri State University Class of 1993; this is the second year for the ceremony.

1964

James Foster, manager of the Esquire Theater, announces the Broadway production of "Hamlet," starring Richard Burton, will be presented in four performances at the Esquire on Sept. 23 and 24 on an advance-ticket-sale basis; the play's Broadway run ended Aug. 8.

Superior Concreters has the contracts for a $50,000 reconstruction effort on North Main Street; the old pavement will be taken up and replaced with concrete seven inches thick, from North Street to Mason Street.

1939

Wesley A. Deneke, superintendent of the public schools at Flat River, Missouri, is the guest speaker in the morning at Grace Methodist Church; William J. McBride is the soloist for the musical hour; the pastor, the Rev. William H. Wolfe, is on vacation with his family.

Services are resumed at Christ Episcopal Church after the return of the rector, Dr. Clifford L. Stanley, from Canada; he spent some of his time near Calgary and made a motor trip into the Canadian Rockies and to Lake Louise.

1914

Andrew "Booty" Schmittzehe, a clerk in the Miller & Kinder drugstore, suffered a painful cut on his right arm last night when he fell from a bicycle at the corner of Independence and Spanish streets.

Contractor Tony Haas is progressing rapidly with the concrete work on Frederick Street, between Themis and Independence streets; he will have all the curbs and sidewalks down in a few days; by the first of next week, he expects to start laying the concrete on the street proper.
