The congregation of the New Testament Bible Baptist Church, 209 E. Cape Rock Dr., voted to disband on May 10; having acquired the property, the Calvary Road Chapel, a nondenominational church, is now holding services there; the pastor is the Rev. Alonzo Rhodes.
The city of Cape Girardeau is attempting to boost boardings at the municipal airport, even as Trans World Express, the only commercial air carrier at the port, has cut back on its daily flights to St. Louis.
Tentative approval of plans for the proposed water district in north Cape Girardeau and south Perry counties is expected soon from the Farmers Home Administration; the half-million-dollar project is to be built with an FHA-backed loan.
The city building inspector has issued a building permit for the construction of a metal building near Central High School to house an auto mechanics shop; the permit had previously been withheld because the building didn't meet city fire code regulations; current plans, however, include a sprinkler system for the building.

Schmidtke, pastor of the First Methodist Church at Webster Groves, Missouri, is guest speaker in the morning at Centenary Methodist Church; he is the third out-of-town speaker to preach at Centenary during the absence of the pastor, the Rev. WASHINGTON -- Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Watkins Oliver of Cape Girardeau, has been elected a life member in the Order of the Flag, the Legion of Honor of the United States Flag Association; Oliver is the designer of the Missouri state flag.
Sixteen hundred bushels of new wheat, some hay and other grains, and quite a number of farm implements were lost last night, when the barn on the farm of N.O. Ellis near Ancell was destroyed by fire shortly after midnight; the wheat had been stored away in the bins in the barn a few days ago, and the loss suffered will be quite heavy.
Maj. A. Linxweiler of Jefferson City, assistant to the adjutant general of Missouri, and Capt. F.B. Nulsen, quartermaster of the First Regiment in St. Louis, arrive here to take charge of preliminary arrangements for the National Guard encampment.
