The "Spirit of Southeast," Southeast Missouri Hospital's new Bell Long Ranger II air ambulance helicopter, paid a visit to Scott City yesterday to meet with police and emergency medical personnel there and the North Scott County Ambulance Service; the air ambulance service is scheduled to begin Aug. 3.
The Cape Girardeau Area Commerce and Growth Association, formed about a month ago, seeks to provide a regional approach to regional problems; about 26 business and civic leaders in the Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Chaffee, Mo., and Scott City area are participating in the association.

The Jackson School Board has decided to inaugurate bus service for those boys and girls living in the northern part of the county who wish to attend the high school there next fall.
At the public meeting at the courthouse, the actions of the majority faction of the school board are severely criticized and the actions of the representatives of the American Book Co. strongly condemned; the four school board members who voted for a list of textbooks unsupported by the district's superintendents and principals fail to attend the gathering, sending their lawyers to the meeting instead.
The National Guard boys from Company K of Cape Girardeau and Company F of Jackson have returned from the state encampment at Nevada, Mo.
