25 years ago: July 21, 1984

One of the two victims of Thursday's towboat accident just south of Cape Girardeau was found yesterday and the search continues for the other victim; the towboat Helen Tully, with her two crewmen, sank Thursday morning after colliding with another tow.

50 years ago: July 21, 1959

A motor crane was needed to lift a heavy, bulky safe to a new office on the second floor of the Junior High School building; the safe was jockeyed through a window frame to the office of Hal B. Lehman, director of buildings and the purchasing agent.

75 years ago: July 21, 1934

A 48-year-old Cotton Belt railroad car inspector is burned over a large part of his body when a gasoline tank catches fire from the lantern he is carrying as he inspects the yards between Illmo and Fornfelt at 2 a.m.

100 years ago: July 21, 1909

Ed Cotner, a carpenter working a new building in Jackson, was injured yesterday when a joist fell on the toes of his left foot, badly smashing the big one and several others.
