Lt. Nathan and Debra Johnson have arrived in Cape Girardeau to begin their work with the Salvation Army; the two are taking over the duties of Capt. and Mrs. Ralph Ashcraft, who have been assigned to a post at Alma, Mich.

Cape Girardeau County's long-standing method of milk and restaurant inspection through a county court-appointed sanitarian is held illegal by the attorney general; while the court has no authority to create the office of county sanitarian, it can name a licensed physician to be its health officer and the latter may then appoint a sanitarian.
Because of increasing size, both in the number of buildings and number of people using water, State College has received $31,000 in state appropriations for drilling a larger water well; the college's well is 1,750 feet deep.
The first anniversary of the establishment of CCC Camp No. 3748 at Delta was celebrated yesterday, with about 500 visitors at the camp for a ball game, concert by the 140th Infantry Band, boxing matches, dedication of a new amphitheater and a picture show; the camp houses 147 black enrollees; all but four are from Missouri.
Carl Meyer of the pitching staff of the Capaha baseball team expects to go to Mayfield, Ky., tomorrow to try out for a berth on the team in the Kitty League.
Dr. Otto E. Forster, president of the Cape Brewery & Ice Co., left last night for an extended vacation; he has been in poor health for a long time and has decided on a long rest; Charles H. Overstolz, who is Forster's stepson, has come done from St. Louis to take his place at the brewery.
