Digging at an undisclosed location in Bollinger County last weekend, fossil hunters found a single tooth, the first evidence, they say, that a relative of Tyrannosaurus rex once roamed the land that is now Missouri; the man who made the discovery was David Peters, 35, of Kirkwood, Missouri.
In "Wild West" action yesterday, the 24-barge tow of the 5,600-horsepower towboat Gloria G struck an underwater shoal and broke up in the Mississippi River, two miles north of Cape Girardeau; during the mishap, many of the barges, 15 loaded with grain, broke free and began floating downstream; like old West cattle drovers, the towboats John C. Byrd and Gloria G, and Missouri Barge Lines fleet tugs Curtis Moore and Bill Wyndham rounded up the barges.

The Capahas are trimmed up rather handily by those confounded Chaffeeites, to the tune of 7-5; it wasn't so much the talents of the Chaffee, Missouri, team that won the game, but rather the pitching of Barney Pelty of Farmington, Mo., one-time star hurler of the St. Louis Browns.
