An investigation is underway into "possible criminal misuse of public funds" in Cape Girardeau's Municipal Court; the investigation is being conducted by the state auditor's office.

Capt. Jerome A. BENTON, Mo. -- Burglars, evidently searching for money, entered the W.A. Miller & Son store here during the night and took $6.50 from a cash register, after failing to get anything from the store's safe; they then broke into the post office quarters in the same building, but couldn't open the big iron safe there; apparently hungry, the yeggs helped themselves to a meal of lunch meat and milk.
The Cape Girardeau City Council accepted the plans and specifications of an expert engineer for the proposed municipal water and light plant last night; in addition, by a split vote, the council instructed the judiciary committee to draft an ordinance calling for a special vote on the proposition.
