Sixteen Senior Girl Scouts of the Otahki Council depart by train at noon for Button Bay State Park at Burlington, Vt., and two weeks at the third annual National Senior Girl Scout Roundup.

Capt. Jerome A. Rapp Jr. has been assigned as the executive director for administration in the Office of the Inspector General, Bureau of Naval Weapons; Rapp graduated from Central High and attended State College before enlisting in the Navy's aviation cadet program in 1941; during World War II, he flew combat missions off aircraft carriers in the Pacific Theater.

1937

Rain fell over many parts of Missouri overnight, with Jackson and some parts of the county receiving more than a half-inch of precipitation; Cape Girardeau only received a light shower; with the rain, however, came cooling breezes.

BENTON, Mo. -- Burglars, evidently searching for money, entered the W.A. Miller & Son store here during the night and took $6.50 from a cash register, after failing to get anything from the store's safe; they then broke into the post office quarters in the same building, but couldn't open the big iron safe there; apparently hungry, the yeggs helped themselves to a meal of lunch meat and milk.

1912

The Cape Girardeau City Council accepted the plans and specifications of an expert engineer for the proposed municipal water and light plant last night; in addition, by a split vote, the council instructed the judiciary committee to draft an ordinance calling for a special vote on the proposition.

Arthur Bauer, who conducted a store in Haarig last winter, is moving his household goods to Jonesboro, Ill., where he has purchased a store and meat market.
