Despite delays caused by low water on the Mississippi River, the board of the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority has learned that one of two barges carrying steel for the new dock facility at the port is in Cape Girardeau.

The third stage of enlarging and improving Houck Stadium should be completed in about two weeks and should serve the needs of Indian football teams for at least five years; additional bleachers, seating 1,000, will be erected east of new bleachers built last year.

Jackson is assured a new elementary school building and auditorium, when voters approve a $75,000 bond issue at a special election; with $61,000 coming from the Public Works Administration, the new structure will cost approximately $135,000.

That grand old gentleman of Cape Girardeau, Dr. A. Peironnet, is 94 years old today; no special dinner or function is held at his home on North Sprigg Street to mark the occasion of his natal day, but a few members of his family and friends spend time with him in the afternoon.

G.W. Palmer comes from Bonne Terre, Mo., to spend a few days with his family; he was formerly a druggist in the Wasem drugstore on Good Hope Street.
