Perryville, Mo., city administrator Al Stoverink has been named finance director for the city of Cape Girardeau; he will begin his new job here Sept. 1.
The Cape Girardeau City Council is considering implementing two-hour parking restrictions on selected streets surrounding Southeast Missouri State University as a way of dealing with parking problems there.
T. Donley Thomas has resigned as director of the Cape Girardeau Symphony in order to devote his time with the orchestra as cellist; he became conductor following the departure of Fritz Heim to Utica, N.Y.; Thomas will be succeeded by A. Wesley Tower, assistant professor of music at State College and trumpet player with the orchestra.
Edward "Mickey" Halter, 12, set a Little League record yesterday when he connected for three home runs and a double as his Braves team played the Dodgers at Arena Park; Halter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivo Halter of Cape Girardeau.
Judson M. Randol, 87, dies at Farmington, Mo., from the infirmities of advanced age; his body will be returned to Jackson for burial; Hudson, the grandson of area pioneer James Randol, served as county sheriff from 1890 to 1896.
Chris Bauer has purchased the buildings at 716 and 718 Broadway as an investment; the former building is occupied by the Radio Service Co., while the latter is home to Maier Auto Supply Co.
The Jackson Dramatic Club is busy with rehearsals for its upcoming play, "Josiah's Courtship," which will be given next Friday evening as a benefit for the Ladies' Improvement Association.
The East Cape Girardeau, Ill., levee is nearly completed; several gangs of graders have finished their allotted stretches of the big embankment and have taken their equipment away; only a mile of embankment remains to be made.
