ANNA, Ill. -- Fire at Anna, possibly started by grain dust explosion, heavily damages blower tower used for milling grain at Anna Feed and Paper Co.; fire, which begins near blower motor in tower, burns rapidly because of grain dust in tower.
Authentic piece of American memorabilia is on the block; old Cotton Belt Railroad Depot at Illmo, built in 1904, is for sale; faded wooden structure is giving way to progress; new yard office will replace rambling old structure.

ORAN, Mo. -- Oran Board of Education, in closed meeting last night, heard report of two state auditors concerning possible misuse of state school funds which appeared on recent audit of school district's books; The Missourian has learned that auditors told board district had been overpaid about $4,000 in state funds during 1952-1953 school year; this came about through practice of applying for state aid on basis of pupils who attended Guardian Angel Catholic School.
Construction is underway on new wide screen for Esquire Theater; screen will enable theater to show movies of the type featuring extra-wide picture; screen will be 35 feet wide.
75 years ago: June 4, 1929
At special meeting Teachers College Board of Regents passes resolution providing for formation of holding corporation, composed of members of college faculty, board of regents and residents, for purpose of financing construction of first unit of college athletic stadium at Houck Field; immediate steps will be taken to form corporation and get project underway.
Purchase of four automatic feeders for furnaces to be installed in four larger schools of Cape Girardeau system in effort to conserve fuel has been authorized by board of education; stokers will be installed at Central High, Franklin, May Greene and Washington schools.
