KUGT AM-1170 has changed its format to become the area's first full-time Christian music radio station; music will range from inspirational to contemporary Christian.
Circuit Judge Stanley A. Grimm, who was named Saturday by a judicial commission as one of three finalists for a vacancy on the Missouri Court of Appeals, is interviewed by Gov. John Ashcroft; the governor is expected to make an appointment this week.
It is announced that Dr. Joseph H. Tygett has joined the Cape Girardeau Surgical Group, 1912 Broadway, in the practice of obstetrics and gynecology; a native of Cape Girardeau, he is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Glenn J. Tygett.
A group of Boy Scouts from Chaffee, Mo., is making a 70-mile hike to Camp Lewallen near Silva, Mo., this weekend; leading the trek is Charles Uhr, scoutmaster of Troop 52, and Harold Williams, assistant scoutmaster; Scouts are Charles Uhr Jr., 14, Eugene Long, 15, and Dan Frissell, 13; one Scout, Ralph Lape, 14, had to turn back because of sore feet.

Volney Pfifer, head animal trainer for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Hii, a Chinese water buffalo, is displayed in front of the Broadway Theater for a short time in the morning; the strange beast is a movie star, having already had a part in "The Good Earth" and now on its way back to Hollywood to film another picture.
A freak hailstorm accompanying rain late yesterday afternoon for the most part missed Cape Girardeau, but struck parts of the rural vicinity west of here; damage was inflicted by the hail on a strip of farm land from Jackson east to Cape LaCroix Creek.
The secretary of state yesterday issued incorporation papers to the Cape Realty Co., with a capital of $50,000; the incorporators are D.A. Glenn, L.S. Joseph, R.W. Matteson and Mrs. Martha Klostermann; the company will handle realty business and will especially handle real estate belonging to the defunct German-American Bank, which property is in this city and St. Louis.
Fred Groves of the Southeast Missouri Motor Car Co. returns home from Detroit, where he has been signing up for 1913 model cars; after going over the various lines of cars, he signed up for the Hudson automobiles.
